Use an easily accessible file sharing platform for quick reviews (Stream) or Frame.io as you can export the comments in a file that can be uploaded to Final Cut Pro X complete with timecodes. Frame.io also means you can highlight parts that need changing with the exact timecode and can even draw on the area that needs attention. This turned out to be the perfect platform for us to collaborate on to spot editing mistakes. | Stop using WeTransfer and other systems as a way of sharing files | Keep using Frame.io between teams to review the videos and provide feedback for further editing jobs. |
Use a desktop publishing app to create coaching notes and long form text to make revisions easier to implement and reduce file sizes
Proofread scripts before they are used in production.
Agree ways of working including lines of communication, platforms for collaboration and reporting. | Using communication channels that fragment or duplicate the conversation and require frequent catch ups to keep everyone else up to speed - answering questions that have already been answered
Communicate with internal comms, marketing, and creative as soon as launch date is agreed/estimated. | Maintain control over key messaging and communication plan.
Make keyword research / naming convention and landing page decisions an earlier part of the process | Changing names / URLs after communicating with anyone outside of our team. | Base naming conventions and landing page decisions on keyword research and customer journeys. |
Complete QA/prep on any written content for video before sending it for post production. | Using the same individual for QA and post-production. | Multiple QA stages and multiple eyes on each stage. |
Create a look and feel/style board (with video clips) before the shoot. Make sure this is approved by both parties. Maybe even do a storyboard for it so you can work out the angles for the exercises, ensuring you are capturing the entirety of the exercise. | Be influenced and led by expert opinion (within the style we have agreed).
Look at other examples that you would like to emulate to ensure the quality of the video is kept the same, using videos like this as an example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iNJcDKJtdo
Put more thought into the environment where you will be scouting a location for filming - look at other examples and get a feel for what looks good. Big, bright and airy space. Appealing spaces tend to create an appealing but not too distracting . If you stray too far from the norm of what is expected of an exercise video, it showslook. Lots of natural light and a plain or natural background that isn’t distracting.
Take notes during shoot of any changes made to original plan (i.e. duplication of an exercise instead of doing the second repetition). Have this available to all reviewers during post and review | Relying on people’s memories. |
