We all want to enjoy our time in the community. If someone’s posts or replies are getting a bit much, or you’d rather not see them at all, you can use the Mute or Ignore features. These let you control what you see and hear from other users.
What’s the difference between Mute and Ignore?
Mute: Stops notifications about a person’s posts, replies, or mentions. You’ll still see their posts if you browse the community, but they won’t pop up in your notifications.
Ignore: Hides everything they post, reply, or mention from your view. It’s like they’re not there at all.
How to Mute or Ignore someone
You can manage these settings in two ways: from a person’s profile or directly in your Preferences.
Option 1: From their profile
Visit their profile: Click on the name or picture of the user you want to mute or ignore. This will open their profile page.
Change notification settings: Look for the button that says “Normal” (or has a bell icon) near the top of their profile.
Select Mute or Ignore
Mute: Stops notifications but doesn’t hide their posts.
Ignore: Hides everything, and you can choose how long to ignore them:
1 day
1 week
1 month
Forever
Option 2: From your Preferences
Go to your Preferences: Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner, then click on the grey person icon on the right-hand side of the menu, then select Preferences.
Open the Users section: In the second tab menu, click Users.
Manage Ignored/Muted Users
Here, you’ll see a list of users you’ve already Muted or Ignored.
You can add new users to your Mute or Ignore list by typing their username.
You can also remove someone from your mute/ignore list or adjust the duration for ignoring them.
Once you’ve finished, click the blue ‘Save Changes’ button.
