Access

The studio is in Unit 26 of the Battersea Business Centre located at 99-109 Lavender Hill, Battersea, London SW11 9QL.

If travelling by tube, alight at Clapham Common on the Northern Line and take bus 345 heading to High Street Kensington from stop K to Tipthorpe Road bus stop right outside the building.

The studio is on the 1st floor of a dated building with step-free access via a goods lift. We did not inspect the lift but would advise that anyone using it should have a mobile phone on their person in case of emergency.

Toilets are located on each floor. However, there is no accessible toilet in the building.

We will also have access to the prop room Unit 22 on the same floor for pots, pans and utensils. We may not be the only people with access and have been advised to request what we need and put it in the studio so we can have it for the duration of the shoot.

The studio

The studio is well lit with east facing windows that have extra glazing to reduce external noise. There are signs asking people to keep the noise levels down during shoots but it did feel like the premises were fairly quiet.

The ceiling height is approximately 2.9m high and the room’s dimensions along with other details can be found here https://www.kitchenstudiohire.com/the-modern-kitchen-studio .

The space was relatively clean but we will ensure that it is properly cleaned before we occupy and we will take before and after videos.

All utensils appear to be present but we will need an Air Fryer and Slow Cooker.

There is heating provided by a portable oil-filled heater that is silent and shouldn’t affect the sound production.

Parking

There is only one parking space which we may need to prioritise for deliveries to the site. We can arrange for the food and utensils to be delivered on the first day and kept in the studio for the duration of the shoot. The film crew may need to be prioritised in for on site parking during the shoot. There is parking at the nearby ASDA which could also help.

Risk and mitigation

There are two first aid boxes, one for burns and the other for cuts, grazes etc. There is a cable cover between the island and rear worktop which could be a trip-hazard.

There is a bar stool which we believe to be unsafe so if we are casting a stroke survivor who needs to sit we will need to provide safe seating.

There are two fire extinguishers in the studio for electrical and cooking fires.
