How to change which notifications you receive in the browser
What this guide is about
You can choose which notifications you receive in the Online Community.
This guide will show you how to:
Change your notification settings.
Turn off notifications.
Set a custom schedule for notifications.
These are different from the emails you receive. If you would like to change your email preferences, read our how-to guide.
How to change your notification settings
Click on your profile picture in the top right of the screen.
Then click the grey person icon (blue circle) and select Preferences.
Now click on the Notifications option.
Choosing when to get notifications for likes
When you have added a post, you can choose how often you are notified when people like that post. You have a number of options:
Option | What it does |
---|---|
Always | Get a notification every time your post is liked. |
First time a post is liked and daily | Get a notification for the first like, then once per day if more people like it. |
First time only | Get a notification only for the first like. |
Never | No notifications for likes. |
Below is an example of how it looks like.
Live notifications
If you don’t want to receive notifications at all, you can click this button to Disable Notifications.
Important: This is a browser based setting. If you use the forum on both your tablet and your laptop, for example, you can choose to disable notifications on one machine but not the other. This isn’t tied to your account, but rather to the browser you are using.
Setting a custom notification schedule
You can choose to receive notifications only during certain times of the day.
Scroll down the page and navigate to Notification Schedule settings.
Select the days and times when you want to receive notifications.
Click Save Changes.
